John Dunne

John Dunne is an experienced and solution focussed industrial and employee relations practitioner. He has a strong reputation among HR and IR specialists, who regard him as even-handed, trustworthy and resourceful. 

John is known for his clear analysis of complex issues and enabling credible and long-lasting solutions. He is a consensus builder, with wide experience of multi-union environments and a keen understanding of different perspectives involved in employment situations. 

John has been General Secretary of the Guinness Staff Union, a Sector Organiser in the SIPTU Manufacturing Division and convenor/Chair of multi union groups. He has extensive experience in the private, public and charities sectors, and from his earlier career in hospitality, the food industry and local government.  

John’s comprehensive knowledge of the community and voluntary sector has been built through a lifelong commitment to voluntary service. He has direct experience in leadership and management in the sector and is a Board member of the Ballymun Jobs Centre.

His extensive professional experience is underpinned by qualifications in Labour Law and Business Studies from the College of Industrial Relations (now N.C.I.) and the SIPTU College.
